Nicola Mckilligan

I am the Senior Partner and Chief Executive of the Privacy Partnership Professional Services Group which I founded with Jacqueline Gazey in 2000.   I have   20+ years experience as a Data Protection Consultant to major multi-nationals, start ups and Regulators.  I have worked in house with the UK Information Commissioner as a Strategic Policy and International Officer and as Head of Privacy and British Gas and Vice President of Privacy at Thomson Reuters.

I have delivered a number of  successful Data Protection (GDPR) Infrastructure projects for some of the UK's largest companies and provide Data protection and AI Governance consultancy support for organizations in a variety of sectors including the Technology, Media and Social Media, Retail, Market Research, Transport and Charitable sectors.

I also provide Outsourced Data Protection Officer Services.

I have a proven track record of supporting organizations in almost every sector with the most complex aspects of data protection.  I share knowledge with my Clients and use my skills to ensure the best possible outcome for my clients at all times. Many of my clients have worked with me over a long period and I am committed to supporting both the Client organization and the individual privacy professionals I work with in those organizations. 

I have a keen interest in Standards work and was the co-author of the original British Data Protection Standard BS10012 and have previously acted as Primary UK Expert to ISO on Data Protection.    I have also authored of a number of guides on data protection, privacy and freedom of information including the Data Protection Pocketbook Guide editions 1&2.  I come from a regulatory background and originally worked as Strategic Policy and International Officer at the ICO and Secretariat to the Joint Supervisory Body for EURODAC. I am also committed to promoting data protection and privacy as a career and have acted as  IAPP London Knowledgenet Chair, IAPP European Board Member and Vice Chair of the British Standards Data Protection Standards Committee.
